Victoria Newton is thrilled to be back in
Perth after many years of performing in the UK, where she
was recognised as one the most exciting and dynamic jazz
vocalists on the scene. Vlctoria's unique versatility mixes
a solid command of the jazz repertoire with a love of Brazilian
music. A stint as a dance music diva in the mid-1990s also
enabled Victoria to bring her energetic live performance
style to audiences all over the globe.
In most recent times Victoria performed at Ronnie Scott’s
( UK ) with the Ronnie Scott’s Big Band and has also
appeared at the Annual Oil Barons Ball in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur’s
premier jazz club for New Years Eve in 2008. November 2006
saw Victoria cruising the Amazon singing and performing Brazilian
music.
As well as the acclaimed Ronnie Scott’s Victoria has
made numerous appearances at other major London venues such
as Pizza on the Park, The Jazz Café (supporting trumpeter
Terence Blanchard - USA), the 606 Club and Pizza Express. One
of Victoria's first London shows was with well known jazz/hip
hop guitarist Ronnie Jordan. Festivals Victoria has performed
at have included: The South Park Jazz Festival in Oxford, The
Marlborough Jazz Festival, The Queille Festival ( France),
The Swanage Jazz Festival, The Jazz Divas Festival on the Isle
of Wight and the Oxford Literary Festival.
As a jazz student with the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra Victoria
supported artists greats such as James Moody, Dionne Warwick
and Ray Charles.
In the mid 90's Victoria's career took a new turn when she
was chosen to front the UK dance music sensation ‘Strike’ and
their smash hit U Sure Do which made the top 5 in many countries
all over the world including the UK and Australia. Victoria
found herself touring all over Europe all the way through to
Japan, appearing regularly on the BBC’s prime time show
Top of the Pops and MTV. The group then went on to produce
another 4 top 40 hits and the critically acclaimed album I
Saw the Future. Victoria Newton has shared the stage with well
know artists such as Jocelyn Brown and even the Spice Girls!
In 2004 Victoria released her first jazz album The Song is
You and received rave reviews from the UK press. Victoria’s
can be regularly heard on the new UK national radio station
- The Jazz.
Victoria's love for jazz has seen her perform at many stately
homes and castles for weddings and corporate functions in the
UK, Europe and beyond. They include functions in some of the
major London hotels such as The Dorchester, Claridges, the
Waldorf Meridian and the Savoy Hotel. Notable events and venues
include: Harvey Nichols, BMW, British American Tobacco, Time
Magazine, Tower Bridge, Transport for London Xmas Party to
name a few.
