The Papillon Jazz Collective is a group
of musicians who are passionate about Jazz music. Based in
Perth, Western Australia, they perform a wide range of traditional
Jazz, Blues and Latin Jazz at a variety of venues in WA.
Papillon Jazz band includes members who have played with some
of the world's great performers such as Sammy Davis Jnr., The
Four Tops, and Johnny Farnham. This wide breadth of experience
is what gives their music its extra depth. The group was formed
out of the musical collaboration of two of the core members.
Barry Bruce is one of Perth's best known piano players and
swing Jazz band leaders and Miranda Wageman has switched from
a successful career playing Argentinean Tango to her true love
Jazz violin. They are accompanied in the core group by well
known WA Jazz Double Bass player Murray Wilkins.
The core group can be supplemented by other musicians to play
as a quartet, quintet or sextet as your event requires. These
other musicians also include some of Australia's finest exponents
of the art of Jazz such as
Denise Dale (Vocals), Tim Woolley (Drums) and Viv Booker (Double
Bass). The group plays at many types of celebrations such as
festivals and concert performances, weddings, birthdays and
corporate launches. To complement their performances, Papillon
also has a pool of other musicians and swing dancers that they
can contact should you require them for your event.
If you have a corporate function, Christmas or New Year party,
why not do something different and turn back the clock to the
swinging Jazz era of the 30's and 40's! For something different,
Papillon jazz band can work with you to create a theme night
such as a Speakeasy from the heady
days of prohibition in the USA.
