The Daniel Barwick Trio is a piano-based
jazz trio that covers many styles in the jazz idiom including
swing, Latin, bossa, ballad, bop and samba just to name a
few. Consisting of some of the Western Australia's Academy
of Performing Art’s finest young talent, the Daniel
Barwick Jazz Trio is available for restaurant/bar performances,
weddings, businesses and corporate functions.
With a combined repertoire of over 100 tunes, this versatile
jazz trio has also worked with vocalist, Fantine Pritoula,
and subsequently a vocal-based quartet is available if it is
in the interest of the venue (such as weddings or business
dinner functions).
Daniel Barwick (Drums)
Daniel Barwick’s love of music began at a very young
age - playing the trombone at age nine, swiftly followed in
High School by the drums which has become his passion ever
since. With a predominantly classical and contemporary-based
Primary and High School music education, he soon discovered
his love of jazz by age 15 and began playing around Perth City
in high school jazz big bands and smaller group ensembles.
Soon after year 12 TEE graduation Daniel was one of five drummers
accepted into the Western Australian Academy of Performing
Arts Bachelor of Jazz Performance where he is currently studying
full time. Daniel has continued to be inspired by fellow students
which led to the formation of his own trio with a promising
up and coming future.
James Ireland (Piano)
James Ireland began learning the piano at the age of 10 and
like most young musicians started with a strong classical background,
finding his passion for Jazz when he was introduced to the
genre in High School. As his musicality developed so did his
enthusiasm for Jazz and over the years has studied under local
musicians such as Graham Wood, Sue Bluck, Mike Nelson and Russell
Holmes. In 2007 James was granted acceptance into the WAAPA
Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance and plays with the Western
Australian Youth Jazz
Orchestra, Perth Youth Dixieland Orchestra and other local
bands who gig regularly including the Daniel Barwick Trio.
Robin Murray (Double Bass)
Robin Murray began playing trumpet in 1991 at the age of
six and since then has enjoyed playing a range of other
instruments including piano, acoustic guitar, electric
bass, trombone, tuba and percussion. In 2006 he received
his Advanced Diploma of Jazz on electric bass and in 2007
he was fortunate enough to be granted acceptance to the
Western Australian Academy of
Performing Arts Bachelor of Jazz Performance where he is
currently studying full time. Recently Robin has performed
and sung in The Conservatorium’s own prestigious Jazz
In The Theatre production amongst many another performances.
The Daniel
Barwick Jazz Trio are the perfect choice for all wedding
entertainment and corporate
functions.
