Andy O'Neil
Andy was introduced to music at a very early age – with his father singing to him while he was still hanging about in the womb. He refused piano lessons at his parent’s urgings, deciding at the age of 8 that guitar lessons would be much more beneficial as he planned to be a rock star when he grew up. Trying his hand at guitar and trumpet, he eventually found his calling to the bass in his teen years. Moving up to Perth from Albany in 2002, he commenced his studies at WAAPA and completed an Advanced Diploma of Contemporary Music at the Academy in 2005. Deciding to stay on at the institution to further his musical education, he auditioned, and was one of only four bassist applicants accepted into the renowned Bachelor of Jazz course in 2006. Andy has been performing in a contemporary piano trio, a jazz quartet and various cover band gigs around Perth for the last 3 years, and thoroughly enjoys every Dapper Gentlemen performance. He also has a fond love of singing in the shower.
