About Huxley...
Perth pop male vocal group ‘Huxley’ consists of four brothers Ryan, Mark, Adam and youngest brother Neal on drums.
Huxley Sing classic hits from the 50’s such as ‘Earth Angel’, ‘All Shook Up’, Chantilly lace and songs from the 60's such as ‘I’m a believer’, I Get Around and 'Fun, Fun, Fun', the boys capture the raw 50's and 60’s sound that the audiences seem to love and these songs remain evergreens despite their age.' Huxley' sing classic 70's songs from 'The Bee Gees' to ' The Eagles '. The coverage of music continues through to the present singing such songs as ‘Hero’, 'Your body is a wonderland' and ‘When you say nothing at all’.
Originally busking and singing at parties and weddings, Huxley have slowly crafted their act. In May 2001, Huxley performed a composition Ryan wrote titled 'How She Feels' to a crowd of over 1000 people. Also in 2004, Huxley appeared on Telethon and the Telethon Beachside Resort Home Open. Late 2004 saw the boys singing Surfer Girl a capella at the Claremont Hotel Winter fashion Parade.
With several corporate functions of hotel gigs such as Hyatt hotel /Parmelia Hilton, Christmas functions, ‘Battle of the bands’ and numerous amounts of exposure in pubs and clubs in the perth district area, ‘Huxley have fine tuned their sound and their performance standard always reward the boys with strong positive feedback ensuing a positive career ahead in the music industry...
RYAN is the lead guitarist, alternating singing lead and providing the high harmonies.
Last year he completed the Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts and Music theatre certificate 4. This was completed at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He completed this majoring in Classical guitar under the guidance of Graham Hall and Johnathon Paget. As a result, he has fine tuned his harmony, aural , and composition skills.
Ryan's classical training has enabled him to understand the intricacies of composition and songwriting. He writes song to order and is regarded as the optimistic personality of the group. His influences include Rick Price, Paul McCartney, Richard Marx and Bryan Adams.
"Music to me is not just nice organised sounds. I believe it should be the soundtrack to people's lives, that's what i set out to achieve when i create my songs".
Mark
Mark is the bass player and baritone voice for Huxley, alternating the lead and lower harmonies. Performing since the age of fourteen, Mark's understanding of the music world is constantly growing and he is a vital asset to Huxley.
Mark's ability to adjust singing styles to suit certain songs always receives positive feedback everywhere he performs. Some of his influences are Frank Sinatra, Don Mclean, John Mayer and the Beatles.
"Songwriting has always been a passion of mine", Mark claims and Huxley are currently in the process of recording their very own originals. In speaking of collaboration with his brothers Ryan and Adam with songwriting," I like to express my feelings and emotions through songs but I also like to see what others think of my work and what they can bring to it (the song) to improve it if need be".
ADAM
Adam is the keyboard player for Huxley and alternates the lead and lower harmonies. His inspiration as a singer and piano player has come from many artists such as Neil Diamond, Jim Brickman and Billy Joel. His piano skills are quite diverse and can suit most styles of music.
NEAL
Neal is the youngest member of the group and therefore was designated the role of the drummer (ha ha)!
Although Neal sings a few of the tracks performed by 'Huxley', he is primarily the timekeeper. His influences and personality fuse to create the energetic, driving rhythms which has contributed to 'Huxley's' sound.
Influences include Michael Buble, Sting, Nat King Cole and Elvis Presley (The King).
