"Tony plays bass, guitars, keyboards, computers, voice, and occasional sax / woodwinds. Tony's original musical awakening (the "British invasion") led to 12 intense years playing in bands all around Brisbane. After some time off for family, Tony has rediscovered musical friends and the joy of performing in a variety of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 piece lineups, and also arranging music. Tony also designs musical equipment, other electronics, and power stations."
I played bass in various well known Brisbane rock bands from 1967 to 1972. In 2000 I started playing guitar & bass again jamming with friends.
Eventually in 2010 I took up bass with Coal City Country Music Club band at Swifts Sports Club Booval and more recently with various combos playing at Cementco Bowls Club Darra.
I started playing in the 60's in Sydney in a 5 piece raw rock band. Later played in Armidale & Toowoomba and moved to Brisbane in 1985.
Before moving to Brisbane I played in bands every Friday & Saturday for 21 years. When I moved to Brisbane I didnt do much music till I retired due to work commitments as state manager of an international airline then 11 years of shift work at Brisbane airport.
I first showed an interest in drumming about 1955 at our local dances when the old time drummer & pianist played the pop songs of the day. The drummer showed me a bit about drumming and my interest was there to stay. In 1961 I joined a 5 piece band called The Hy-Ryders. We did parties, weddings, and hotels. Also played for the Miss Australia Quest around Ipswich and the south east to raise funds for the Polio Foundation. Then I joined the Cherokees playing around Ipswich.
Since the early days I have played in various lineups till the present.
Only in the last 7 years have I really gone back into band playing again.
