LOS CHASQUIS
Los Chasquis means “ the messengers “ in Quechua, the language
spoken by the Incas in the highlands of Peru, Boliva, Chile, Ecuador and
Argentina.
The music is haunting and vigorous, it mixes the feeling of South America
and the influence of Europe and Africa.
Instruments included Zamponas ( Pan-Piers),
Quena ( Bamboo Flute ), Charango ( ten stringed small Guitar), Drums and
Guitar. The band is both instumental and vocal, songs are sang in Spanish,
Aymara and Quechua.
Los Chasquis is usually a four piece, solo, duo or trio
is also possible. Sound system may be needed for larger audiences but the
group can be acoustic.
